Are marketing and sales for the same thing? This is a question that I get asked quite often by people that are brand conscious (which means they care about their brands). If you are one of them, then maybe you should start thinking again. Marketing and Sales are not the same thing at all.

Marketing comes in the form of advertising. The business owner will come up with an idea for a new product and place it in front of media. If done correctly, this will cause a lot of exposure. For example: McDonalds uses TV commercials to promote their product. These ads bring in a lot of customers, but in turn, they can also be very negative (depending on the company that is airing the ad).

When I think of marketing, I think of sales. This is why I tend to think that marketing and sales are completely different. In order to make a sale, a business will need to put a product in front of a customer that needs it. The reason why they are different is because of the fact that people respond differently to different things.

Take Internet marketing for example. People that own businesses on the Internet tend to react very differently to online marketing than people that go to a brick and mortar stores. The Internet is fast paced, changing and constantly changing. With that in mind, a person that owns a business on the Internet will need to be able to adapt and change quickly and effectively. As a result, they might actually not like what they are doing with the marketing tactics that they have chosen.

It might be a good idea to ask yourself, “Are marketing and sales for the same thing?” The answer to this question will allow you to determine if you are on the right track. I know that some of you might be saying that there are some similarities between marketing and sales. They are similar in that both are used to sell products. However, they are also different in a lot of ways.


One major difference is that marketing allows people to put their product up for sale. With sales, you have to do more work before you can get your product sold. You have to market the product first, develop a good story and make sure that people will want to buy your product. After you have developed a good story and product, you then need to develop an effective marketing strategy. However, marketing and sales do not always mean that your product will necessarily be sold. You need to develop other methods of getting your product noticed.

Another difference is that most businesses give away products. This is because they have something to sell. Other businesses provide a service. They may actually build a physical product or offer services. Sometimes, they even teach people how to use products that they sell or services that they offer.


There are really no similarities between marketing and sales. However, they are both used to attract customers to a business. If you are struggling with your business, it may be because you are not attracting the customers that you need. In order to improve your sales, you need to determine what you have to offer and market it. Both marketing and sales are essential for a business to succeed.

The key to marketing is getting your message out. Without customers, a business owner may not survive. It is important to be able to reach a wide audience. With a large audience, you have a better chance of making a sale.
